James Michael Winks

My life in racing has taught me one key thing: an additional edge plays a significant part in increased success at every level.

This is why I have developed a program that offers a diverse range of services to professional jockeys. Horse Racing is a lucrative multibillion-dollar Industry. My mentoring and coaching program supports, guides and ensures positive progression for every jockey, no matter what journey they are on. There are so many components that lead to success, and for a jockey, rarely is anything ‘black or white.’ I will deliver a comprehensive insight into your strengths and weaknesses and provide detailed, informed assessments of each race ride per my perception, cutting through any grey areas of doubt. I know first-hand that jockeys are expected to do more; often, this requires being more focused and knowledgeable with less support and fewer resources in place. This is why I am here for you.

ABOUT ME

I am a fourth-generation jockey who started race riding in 1999 and enjoyed a very successful career riding over 1000 winners, including 5 Group 1 victories.

I was fortunate that my career as a jockey gave me many opportunities. I rode competitively worldwide, in many jurisdictions, including Singapore, Malaysia, Mauritius, Macau, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. I had considerable success and enjoyed many career highlights, including the Group 1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize for Champion Hong Kong trainer John Moore.

Despite my unexpected and forced retirement in 2020, I’m incredibly grateful my 22- year career as a jockey provided me with an extraordinary level of experience, expertise, and knowledge. My passion for racing is still very much alive, and I’m committed to helping, guiding, influencing, and motivating a new generation of jockeys.
